"God gave us Music that we might pray without words."
(quote outside an old opera house)

Music is a joyful art. It uplifts and inspires us and, at other times, touches deep places within—where
hope, sorrow, and compassion reside. The Community Church is blessed with a rich variety and tradition
of music that nurtures our spiritual growth. Music is purposefully chosen to support the message and
themes of the day and is presented as an act of prayer and praise, not performance.

The choirs and ensembles of our church prepare the youngest to the oldest to lead in worship through the
singing and playing of hymns, anthems, responses, spirituals, gospel songs, contemporary music, and
more. Participants’ musicianship grows as they share their gifts. Participating in a choir or ensemble
creates community, which is one expression of how we live out our faith. People of all ages are welcome to
participate in the church’s music program. Because the “language” of music learned as a child is more
naturally accomplished and of lasting value, parents are especially encouraged to enroll their children in
the choir program. Opportunities are available as well for vocal soloists and instrumentalists to share and
develop their talents.
